a cup
a well
a reservoir after the rain
a heart
a head
my body once again
I fill myself in the everyday
my backyard was a dry field of dirt
until the winter rain
now dandelions sprout
five feet tall
stalks for bird song
plucked as food
drunk by bees
I cup the yellow petals
take a deep breath
fill the well of my lungs
press two fingers to my neck
and feel my pulse
I am here now
my heart
my head
my body once more
I hold the space in my arms
and remember
it will become a dry field again
when the summer heat comes
seeds packed down
waiting
still full
petals fall
through my fingers
alive
whole
a release
an acceptance
scattered in the now clover
I find one small answer
plucked
velvety soft
from my lips
